YOGA FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH CANCER This community includes both women and men in various stages of post-diagnosis care. The majority of cases are for breast cancer but also include multiple myeloma, leukemia, and cancers of the brain, lungs, pancreas and liver. Participating in a full range of treatment plans from the most exclusively traditional to more complementary and integrative approach, the students in this yoga program experience it as part of their non-allopathic treatment plan. Many of the students are unable to work and therefore, unable to pay. The classes are appropriate for everyone, whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, in remission or recovery. This program offers the following classes: Alameda Yoga Station Piedmont Yoga Studio Join therapeutic instructor Cheryl Fenner Brown for two weekly classes that blend restorative yoga, mindful breathing, and mudras that stimulate your body’s natural ability to heal and will compliment your treatment plan. Monthly yoga nidra is offered which guides body and mind into a state of deep relaxation where you can regain a sense of inner equanimity. Classes are ably assisted by trained and experienced yoga teachers volunteering their time to provide an enriched experience for each student.
